We are taking some time to revisit kindness and following school and classroom rules. Students understand the importance of using kind words and actions but aren't always remembering to do so in the heat of the moment. Ask your child about the heart activity we did today. It's important to remember we all matter and we need to consider each other's feelings.
Students were asked to hang their wrinkled heart in their locker. Hopefully it will be a reminder for students to remember what their words and actions can do to others.

It's TIME for math.
Students just finished a unit on time and graphing. Students also reviewed word problems with multiple steps. You will notice the test coming home later this week. We will continue to work on these skills until break. Students will have the opportunity to apply and extend their learning and play games focusing on these concepts as well. Encourage your child to tell time at home and use the clock (both digital and analog).
Below are some links to some games that students will begin using in Computer Lab this week:
Time Games Galore
Telling the Time

Author Visit.
Katie Mcky visited our school today! She is a children's author along with many other things. Before being an author, she taught special education students for 20 years. Below are some of the books she's written. We read Wolf Camp earlier this year.

The students enjoyed two assemblies. She had volunteers (teachers and students) act out two of her books. Ask your child about it. It was very comical! The whole gym was laughing! She is a great entertainer. Thanks to PTO for organizing her visit.

Upcoming Concert.
As you know, the concert is coming up March 8. The students were hard at work today preparing for their music program! With the help of Ms. Egerton, they were able to help decorate the Statue of Liberty back drop for the stage. They have also been practicing their music daily!
The music program will take place at the high school on March 8th!
Hope you can all make it!

Valentine's Day Party.
Today flew by! We started our busy day off with passing out our Valentines. The students absolutely loved all of the Valentines they received from their friends. Later on we had our Valentine's Day Party complete with frozen yogurt, fruits and popcorn! It was delicious! While eating, the students were also able to create their very own Valentine's card for a special someone in their life. We then ended the party by playing the classic game "Heads Up, 7 Up." Thanks to all the parents for making this day go as smoothly as it did!

Field Trip.
Wow! The field trip was a success. The students really enjoyed seeing "Aesop's Fables" at the PAC! We were even lucky enough to sit right up front! Thank you to all the parents for getting your money in on time. I highly recommend the show for all little ones.

News and Updates.
One of our classmates has left us Monday to head to the third grade! Harrison surprised all of the students with the news, along with some delicious treats! The students then threw an impromptu goodbye party complete with many banners and notes! We will miss Harrison very much and wish the best for him!
As well “Twin Day” was a big hit at Spring Road Elementary. We had two sets of “twins” in our classroom. Lily and Jayna matched head to toe! As well, Cecilia and Brynn had a great time matching!
Have a great weekend,
Ms. Gundlach
